Recent events have brought on the need for this clarification regarding our no roms policy and the reasons for it.

When we say no roms we mean no roms. It's not some little *wink wink* technicality meant to be circumvented.

The main reason we disallow roms is of course legal - we do not want to get Nintendo on our asses, we're only interested in sharing information ABOUT roms and piracy.

But our site and our boards being a rom free zone also has a lot of other benefits besides keeping us out of legal trouble (which will always be the number one concern and the reason the no rom policy will never be changed, for any reason.)

It allows developers and others who just aren't interested in or comfortable around illegal roms to still partake.
This makes our boards a crossroads of sorts, where pirates and homebrew developers can actually interact. This is important because we mostly have boards related to emulators on handheld consoles, a field which exists in that exact same crossroads between piracy and homebrew development.

And yes, a strict no roms policy is elitist. It gives us a space for people who wish to *discuss* running pirated roms without having to be constantly interrupted and flooded with rom kiddies asking where to find those roms.

The posters on our boards are expected to be able to aquire roms on their own should they want them.

DO NOT PM MODS OR ADMINS FOR ROMS. In fact do not PM anyone asking for roms. It's very rude, and could potentially land the one you're begging from in legal trouble.
I can't even believe people do this, but there you go. We have the no rom rule so we DON'T have to deal with annoying rom requests all the time.
We will not assist anyone with aquiring roms in any way. We are not *interested* in helping anyone in aquiring illegal materials.

Don't try to be "clever" and outsmart the mods. Don't post about how hard you've been looking for a rom hoping that we won't notice it's rom begging. If other people can get that you're hinting for them to send you a rom, we get it too.

If you are unable to find the roms you want and somehow got into your head that this board would be the venue to locate them, just stop. Give it up, right now. It won't happen.

If you don't agree with our rules simply find another board with a policy more to your liking.
