It was too good to be true, it doesn't work at all just black screen after loading any game!
How can it be possible for any program on the DS to load a 70Mo game, it must be an April fool
EDIT: Apparently it's not a joke since some people get it to work, but i don't know what's wrong with me: i use an R4 (auto dldi), converted metal slug into .neo file, put all the files at the root of my sdcard... Maybe it's a problem with the neogeo.zip since it's supposed to be the bios but it regroup japanese, european and US bios... So i don't know wich one NeoDsConvert use |

OK nevermind i converted the roms with the -bios1 command, i tried metal slug and metal slug X and... IT WORKED
I was only testing a few seconds but i can say right now that it run perfectly well, despite frequent slowdowns and a strange bug with grenades in metal slug you can't use them cause it reset the game (but it work with metal slug X lol)
I'll go for further testing, but it's amazing for a first release!
Thank you  |

When trying to convert roms, I get this error:
NeoDsConvert.exe -bios1 lresort
The system cannot execute the specified program.
Running WinXP SP2 (a very old P366/96MB RAM machine) all up to date, do I need .NET or something? _________________ Currently using and abusing: GBA SP w/ F2A 256Mb - DSLite w/ R4 (2GB Kingston) EZ 3-in-1 and D'Addario strings ;) |

I have absolute no hesistancy is saying that this is the best emu on DS. it really is awesome.
BTW, I can confirm that -bios6 works.
@ ingramb
One suggestion might I add, could you please make so *.neo are run from folder instead of placing them on the root? |

Thanks for the feedback everyone!
>One suggestion might I add, could you please make so *.neo are run from folder instead of placing them on the root?
A good sugestion. /neogeo work?
>Running WinXP SP2 (a very old P366/96MB RAM machine) all up to date, do I need .NET or something?
No .NET, but you may need the visual studio redistrutable: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=32BC1BEE-A3F9-4C13-9C99-220B62A191EE&displaylang=en
>OK nevermind i converted the roms with the -bios1 command
If you don't specify a bios, the converter is supposed to default to -bios1, but it seems to be defaulting to no bios at all =) This will be fixed soon, but it's easy to work around for now.
>How can it be possible for any program on the DS to load a 70Mo game
It doesn't load the whole thing at once. It constantly loads what it needs, and unloads what it's finished with. |

Will be more than happy with that. Also, could you please do the same with NeoDs.nds? so I can place it under homebrew folder.
Thanks again this awesome emu. |

Sorry for the double post.
Could you please use the following as .nds icon? atm, it has none.
It is already converted to 32*32 and 16color depth. Hope you like it. |

lresort - runs great!
kof98 - does not run.
mslug - reset issue with the grenades
mslugx - slowdowns
samsho3 - gameplay freezes 3 sec. into fight, music goes on.
Also, maybe a small issue, but I had a NeoCD unit and the controller mappings on your emu don't match the neo controller, correctly they should be:
A=B
B=A
Y=C
X=D
Maybe a future feature request, configurable input? ;)
Very nice program though, I applaud your hard work on this, sure to keep me entertained. Thank you for this! _________________ Currently using and abusing: GBA SP w/ F2A 256Mb - DSLite w/ R4 (2GB Kingston) EZ 3-in-1 and D'Addario strings ;)

Unless this was built with the EFS library, I think you can store the .nds file anywhere, as it has no way of knowing where it was launched from.
ingramb, many homebrew programs use the (root)\DATA\APPNAME naming convention for storing data files, which helps de-clutter the root of the folder. For instance, in this case you could store games in DATA\NEODS or something similar. It's an idea at least. Alternatively, you could go the way SNEmulDS did and force users to place a config file on the root of the card that then points to the rom location, allowing users to customize the location entirely.
I'd test this out but unfortunately I can't say I've ever played a NeoGeo? Any good game recommendations? |

This should be correct.
> ingramb, many homebrew programs use the (root)\DATA\APPNAME naming convention for storing data files
OK, that seems reasonable.
> I can't say I've ever played a NeoGeo?
What??!!
> Any good game recommendations?
Any Metal Slug game. If you like fighter, Samurai Showdown, Last Blade, and King of Fighters. If you like shooters, Blazing Star and Pulstar. |

@ingramb
Do you have any idea why World Heroes (all) are not working? I am sure its nothing to do with the paging system you have implemented because bigger games than WH series are working fine on NeoDS.
Another small suggestion for future:
Is it possible that you could perhaps make the iterface skinnable? |

I have two questions:
Since ntsc games are faster than pal on other consoles, does converting roms with japanese or US bios rather than european has any effect on the speed?
Have you planned to release some fixed version soon for the two most annoying bugs (metal slug grenades and neodsconvert bios problem) since a lot of people will be complaining with these issues until the true next version?
Again many thanks! |
