Either use the new DLDI version from the site and copy that alone to your card or follow the quickstart slot-1 instructions from the PHWiki article on SNES DS to inject games into the .nds file.
You'd probably be better off using SNEmulDS though. |

Dantheman,
man I hope you can help me out. Here we go...
What I've got:
I have a DS Lite, the g6DS Real, and all my fav roms. I've got both the SNES DS and the NES DS (from your 'SNES DS slot-1 usage download'). From what I can tell I have the most recent snesadvance.DAT file. I've got a pile of my fav NES and SNES roms.
What I've tried:
I ran make_nds and broke up my NES roms into groups so that each .NDS file is not over 4MB. So I've got files like 'nesDS(N-R).nds' which is 1.877MB. Then I dragged these files into the /NDS folder on the g6DS Real. Then I started it up in the DS. I see the .NDS files on the screen with file sizes like '24Mb' and '8Mb' (which is odd to me because they were only 1.8MB when they were placed on the G6DS Real).
I've done the same procedure with the SNES roms, but only did it with one small game to test it out.
What happens:
When I click the .NDS file (either the NES or the SNES files) I get a screen showing me the various options with regards to soft resetting and slow motion and at the bottom is a black 'Start' button. When I click on this I see what appears to be the file loading, and then two black screens. Everything is locked up at this point and I have to shut down the DS.
With respect to the NES .NDS files... When I clicked on 'MyDisc' and selected the .NDS file, I get two white screens, then they both go black and the bottom screen shows the list of NES roms I placed in the .NDS file - but I cannot choose anything or do anything. Locked up, time to power down the DS.
So there you have it. I've followed every step in the info on how to do this and I am unable to figure out what the issue is. One thing I don't know what to do with is the .DAT file. I've placed it in the /SnesDS folder on my laptop during the .NDS file creation procedure - the folder where the 'make_nds' and and 'ndstool' files are - and I've also placed it in the /NDS file on the G6DS Real card.
I have gone through loads of forums and googled myself silly, and I can't figure it out - so here I am (feeling a bit dizzy from it all) and itching to play Shadowgate for the first time in 15 years or give Deadly Towers a go. I intentionally made this a little detailed in the hopes that you can identify where the issue may be. Please don't hold back on details when you reply
Thanks so much Dantheman, I am so thankful for your help!
My best,
Justin |

You seem to be doing everything correctly. The snesadvance.dat file just needs to be in the same folder as the SNES DS creation tools (if you see an asterisk (*) next to the game name, that means it found an entry in the SuperDAT file for that game). My guess about the filesizes is that the G6 measures them in megabits rather than megabytes, so whatever you see on the G6 is exactly 8 times larger than what you'd see on your computer. It's the same size, just a different way of measuring it (like measuring something in yards instead of feet, since 8 bits make up a byte).
Something is going wrong with the launching of the files. Perhaps the G6 Real just can't launch them correctly, but to be honest I'm not really sure.
Since the G6 Real does have automatic DLDI patching however, I would suggest that you use the most recent DLDI-capable versions of NES DS and SNEmulDS instead. With NES DS, you just copy over the nesDS.nds file to your card along with the *.nes game files, and launch the .nds file. It will give you a file browser from which point you can choose the *.nes file to play. With SNEmulDS (which is vastly superior to SNES DS in most regards), put your *.smc game files in an "SNES" folder on the root of your card. Put the "snemul.cfg" file on the root of your card, and the "SNEmulDS.nds" file anywhere you want. Launch the .nds file and it will also show you a file listing that you can select your game from. |

Dantheman,
Hello again - first off, THANKS for the advice! It helped but I'm still having issues.
SNES
I placed the files where you specified - and it looks like this: E:\SNES is where all the roms are and SNEmulDS.nds and the snemul config file are there on E:\. When I run SNEmulDS.nds it tries to do the 'FS Initialization' but it then says that 'FS Initialization failed, loading anyway'. And then I have a screen to choose my rom but it's locked up and there are no roms listed. Thoughts?
NES
Same issue as before. Although last time I didn't have the .NES files on the card. I can see the list but can't do anything... What type of file organization should I have for this NES part? Is there a .DAT file that I'd need?
Oh, perhaps this might help me - where can I get the latest DLDI-capable versions of SNEmulDS and NesDS? You know, just to be sure that I have the latest. Everything I see is posted from 2005-2007.
Dantheman,
thank you so much for helping! And for replying so quick! I just want to have this working...
All the best,
Justin |

The GBATemp download center would probably be the easiest place to find the latest versions.
Have you tried updating the G6's firmware? Perhaps it didn't add automatic DLDI patching until later. Or you can try manually patching the .nds files with the DLDI file from http://dldi.drunkencoders.com/index.php?title=G6_Real - either use the Windows GUI for patching or install DLDIrc to add a "DLDI patch" option to your right-click menu for any *.nds file. |

|

Hi DanTheMan
Turns out that I had to download some firmware for the G6. All problems solved - pretty much.
With NesDS I can't save games - well they appear to save, but the next time I play the game the whole game is 'reset'. So when I play Shadowgate for example, I have to play it straight through - closing the DS and using sleep mode when I'm not playing it.
When I use the save state function on the touch pad nothing happens. When I click the other 'save' option (I forget the actual word/phrase now... someting like 'SMS data') but it says it cannot do it.
There has to be a way around that right??
Thanks bud,

| The "Save SRAM" option is the one that would write the game's save data to a *.srm file on your card. If that's failing, then I suspect it's due to the G6's DLDI file. Check the DLDI wiki to see if perhaps there's an alternate DLDI file you can use. Maybe the one you have is read-only, for instance, which would let it load roms but not save SRAM or make a savestate. |
