Hi all, I've been using GBA Renamer for a while and building my collection for a while - somehow a while back i got the idea to convert my GBAHave.txt file to an Excel file (for easier sorting and stuff), after making a program (it took a while, had to do quite a few re-scans for various reasons) i decided that as much as i love GBARen its missing a lot of things I'd like - so right now I'm looking at making a program BASED on it (I don't have access to the source code of GBARen, of course, so most of this is just my own replica). As part of that project, I realized the one thing that seems to plague quite a few people: the wonderful encoded DAT file.
I made a converter. now i can go back and forth between text and the encoding.
now, since i just recently realized there are other DATs out there (RomCenter, ClrMame - i think?) I'll be looking at their formats over the next few days, and I'm going to try to make a converter between the formats(well, from them TO GBARen DAT format, at least )
If anyone has any suggestions of features to add to an improved version of GBARen, let me know - this isnt going to be released any time soon, by any means - but right now its my main programming project.
Oh, and just to let you know - my first task after ensuring it works like GBARen is to add some database feature or something so there wont be the need for so many re-scans.

How about (separate) DAT files for commercial and PD GBA ROMs? You might even be able to get the pdroms.de people to help you with that side. _________________ -- Where is he?

1. There is already a converter for the gbaren dat to other formats, i wrote it ages ago.
2. Last time someone wrote a dat file for gbaren and started distributing it, i shut the project down for a lonnnnnng time. I'm not saying thats what you'll be doing, just bare that in mind.
3. There is already a "database" feature, you just need to know where to look |
