sblur: Damn.. I'm not sure why the nds version isn't working well for you to be honest. Do you have any funky peripherals plugged in?

Snake: You can load up to 512 songs in the nds version probably, and the menu will show up just fine because of the way it's built. The actual song data will not be there though. Hence the ~2 meg restriction Wink.

I've got a GBA and NDS cart plugged in. That's about it.
Anyway, if I transfer 6 songs or less at a time it works fine, so that's fine.

gladius, would it be possible to incorperate pocketSPC into MoonShell? I think the author expressed interest but is waiting to get permission from you. Seeing as though he doesn't speak english and is relying on software translators as well, I think it might be hard for him to understand your answer.

Darn I wish there were people around here who knew Japanese.

Sure, I have no problem with it being incorporated into Moonshell. The code is an absolute mess right now, but he is welcome to try.

This is from moonshell:

PocketSPC was experimentally introduced with MoonShell.
PocketSPC was a very easy-to-use source.
Thank you for pleasant permission.
Please scold me when some problems (About permission etc.) occur in the future.

It's too bad there's no one who speaks japanese who could be a translator for us all. Ah well. I'm sure you get the gist of what he's saying. Smile

Cool stuff. Very easy to use source doesn't sound right... Maybe it was very hard to use Wink.

Hehe, well, anyway, one thing I noticed was that Final Fantasy 2's music wouldn't play properly, a little problem with the envelopes? It seems as though whenever an instrument should use vibrato, regardless of which instrument it is, it would actually fade out instead.

I don't know if this was a problem with Moonshell or if this is a problem with pocketspc itself (Since I never put any actual pocketSPC NDS specific files on my movie player yet)

On a positive note, at least you don't have to worry about compact flash support now. Very Happy

Yes, that is a known problem. Final fantasy 2 does some wierd stuff with envelopes to produce that effect, and emulating it is tough. It shouldn't sound too off though, I'll try the Moonshell version out and see what it sounds like.

It's not dead, no. I've started in on a new job so time has been quite limited lately, plus compatibility is pretty good now. Keep bugging me about specific games and I'll take a look at them Smile.

Oh, and as for the moonshell version, it doesn't have the code in fast execution ram, so the only problem you should experience is slowdown if the song is too complicated. FF2 sounds the same in moonshell as it does on vanilla pocketspc, and yes, that problem sucks.

*cough* yeah. I think the problem is I keep hoping some enterprising soul will come along and fix all my bugs since the source is released.

Yes, I know I'm off in some fantasy land, but a coder can dream Smile.

First of all let me apologize if this has already been said before (used search, didn't find anything), but could you make a GBA version of PocketSPC for GBAMP? Or are you even maintaining the GBA version anymore? Thanks.

I've had vague thoughts of porting the current codebase back to the gba, but it would not have nearly the accuracy or quality of the current version. Plus it would probably be slower, because it doesn't use dynamic recompilation.

So to answer your question, it probably won't be getting ported back to the GBA.

Just tested all Jikkou Oshaberi Parodius SPCs from SNESMusic, they all work perfectly for me (some minor differences to SNESamp, but I can't point them out).

The only probs I see are with DJBouches custom SPCs (But most work fine).

The .NET free rombuilder corrupts the ROM and playback is not possible most of the time.
