With a GBAMP SD, your options are very limited. However, you CAN play NES games up to 256KB in size. Ignore the misleading 257KB figure, that's from adding the 16 byte header to 256KB and rounding up. Go download Pocketnes_compy from the "Unofficial Pocketnes Versions Here" thread, and use the included NesPack tool to compress your NES roms.
You can also play Game Boy roms up to 128KB in size with Goomba or Goomba Color. There are very few GBC roms that small, and the only small GBC rom worth playing is the freeware game Sqrxz.
You can also play SMS or Gamegear games up to 128KB in size using SMSAdvance and a rom builder to create a single GBA file for each rom.

The main reason for all the limitations is that nobody in the GBA homebrew community has figured out how to read or write disk sectors from the SD drive on the GBAMP SD, and the folks who make the device won't be helpful about it either.

SnesAdvance will never be able to run with the GBAMP. This is because the GBAMP provides no extra addressable memory to the GBA, so the emulator's code, work space, and game must fit within the GBA's 384k of total memory.
SnesAdvance is heavily bound by the GBA's limitations, and will never work on any GBAMP, since there is no way to directly address a SNES ROM. All the development work on SnesAdvance has been redirected to SnesDS, which is much better thanks to the enhancements of the DS hardware versus the GBA.

Thanks for the post Dwedit, found out some stuff I didn't know about it before.

PS: If someone DID find a way to access the SD card, would it be able to function like any other GBAMP? Very Happy

EDIT: How do you dump the firmware of it? (I'm annoyed that I can't do much)

I don't see why not. Has anybody managed to dump the GBAMP SD firmware yet?

If noone has done it yet, I could try when I get my GBAMP SD in the mail anyday now, I would just need to know how to do it.

I'm somewhat surprised to find this post, since i'm currently playing zelda link's awakening DX (though not on gbc mode, with goomba 2.3) on my M3 miniSD, and the patched rom is 1.1Mo. I also can play several game gear games, as mortal kombat 2 for example.

M3 is not the same thing as the GBA Movie Player.

The sticker on top of the M3 is a bit misleading, it clearly says "GBA Movie Player". It's not the first time that I've seen people being confused about this.

I suggest renaming the topic to "Got a GBAMP v2 SD? Your options are limited" to clarify things.

Has anyone figured out just HOW to dump the firmware of the GBAMP V2 SD yet? Because if someone figured out how to do it for the CF version, the SD version would probably need the same trick, even though they both use different firmware versions. I am just wondering why the CF version can display file sizes next to ROMs and files while the SD version does not...

Which files does it show the filesizes of? The games or emulators?

Odd, my GBAMP SD displays the filesizes.

It has to do with the selected font/text size.

I have tried every font/size combination and still no file sizes. Is it just my GBAMP SD?

EDIT: Found that file sizes can only be displayed when using the "System Default" font with 12x12 font size. Thanks for helpful posts!

Wow, I suck. I sold my GBAMP CompactFlash model... and I bought the SecureDigital model just because it's 1cm smaller and doesn't stick out so much.

Cracking the SD interface IS possible, right? So it's just a matter of time? I'm sure there are some awesome people working on it at the moment? I wish I could contribute, but I'm not experienced in this type of stuff. Is there still a way that I can help out though?
