Basically just those two games, but Mapper 40 and 42 are the easiest mappers to convert FDS games to run on. FDS games run from address 6000 on up, and those mappers automatically map rom there. It's possible to hack the games to run on other mappers as well, most mappers use ram at 6000-7FFF, so you can copy code there as needed instead of bankswitching the 6000-7FFF bank. _________________ Here come the fortune cookies! Mapper 69 (Sunsoft), used in Batman: Return of the Joker, also has a ROM bank in $6000-$7FFF.
Would it be possible to make a pseudo-mapper with a 4 KB ROM bank in $5000-$5FFF, RAM in $6000-$DFFF, and an 8 KB fixed ROM bank in $E000-$FFFF? That would allow porting some FDS games by just rewriting the FDS BIOS. _________________ -- Where is he?

Mapper 42 maps the first rom page into 6000-7FFF by default, then maps the last 32k into 8000-FFFF. You can convert some FDS games to INES with a hex editor, and just by copying and pasting bytes around, no hacking necessary.

Once you do that, you're basically emulating the FDS. Might as well go all the way. _________________ Here come the fortune cookies! Here come the fortune cookies!

Is that foreshadowing? Or is there not much interest for fds? _________________ There are over 100 snes games playable on gba thanks to programmers Loopy and flubba, and all the superdat guys: sephiroth2k, darkcube, mog and all the rest. Great job guys! |

There's some interest for FDS. For example, the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 (known more commonly as Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels in North America and Europe) was originally a Famicom Disk; the current way to run it on PocketNES is to have a pirate NES cartridge (yea, they converted quite a few FDS games to NES, usually poorly) and even _patch_ that one in order for it to run. If FDS emulation existed, all you need was the original SMB2 disk.
Maybe FDS emulation could be the highlight of PocketNES 10.0? |

| Has anyone tried running the original FDS file in HVCA and seeing if it works? HVCA supports FDS emulation (was originally called Famicom Advance in fact), so it's plausible that it will work. I haven't tested it myself however. |

Dammit ! With a older PN version I could run Battletoads-Double Dragon , and this version runs it when I test it at Visual Boy but in the cartridge nothing happens.
There's any option or way to run it ?
Or anybody knows if this game is compatible or not ? |

I wonder why it hasn't worked for me with either SMB2, Metroid or Excitebike... :( |
