The link for the MMX 1.1 patch is dead.

Anyone here have a copy they could share?

What is the purpose of this patch? Does it just convert the "1.0" ROM to the "1.1" ROM?

Megaman X has some weird banking issues that make some levels unsolvable on some emulators, if I remember correctly (do I?). Another IIRC: one could either patch that away, or do a simple "copy /b mmx.smc + mmx.smc mmxdouble.smc" for the same effect. Could be possible that the ROM needs to be headerless for this to work, though. My memory is a bit clouded there, that was all so long ago ('96? '97? '98?)...

Thanks for the quick replies.

NorQue, I went ahead and tried that command you suggested with a couple of rom images.

mmx1.1[!] + mmx1.1[!]
mmx1.1[o1] + mmx1.1[o1]
mmx1.1[!] + mmx1.1[o1]

All of them stopped on the opening-to-menu transition. Sad

You mentioned something about using headerless roms. What are they and how would I make one?

Super Nintendo rom files often have a 512 byte header that's not really necessary. It might tell the name of the SNES copier used to dump the rom, for instance. If you open the file in a hex editor, you can remove the first 512 bytes manually ("200" bytes in hex) and see if it still works.

I knew I had a Déjà Vu when I wrote the above post.

And about that header, exactly what dantheman said. Remove the first 512 bytes and you should be set.

As I said, I really don't know if I'm remembering that correctly. May also be possible that my memory is playing tricks on me.

Okay, after finding a decent hex editor and learning how to use, I ran through the steps again with both [!] and [o1] images of the rom.

The doubled [!] was the only one that loaded past the title screen. I ran and got the leg upgrade, beat chill penguin, then went to Storm Eagle and the leg upgrade disappeared so I don´t think it solved anything...

Anyone have a copy of this patch? Or is there some other hex editing trick that I could try?

If I had the patch I'd be glad to send it to you, to patch the ROM yourself, but asking for the actual ROM is against the roolz.

Covarr is right, please only ask for the patch file itself next time. Sadly I don't have it either, or I'd upload it to some place more permanent for everyone. Can't find any mirror links anywhere =/
