Main installer : http://www.teambadattitude.co.uk/ROM-Renamer/download/RRR.msi
Update : http://www.teambadattitude.co.uk/ROM-Renamer/download/ROM-Renamer.exe
Bugs/To-do
==========
CANCEL NOT CANCELLING!!!! (Can lead to corrupt ROMs)
Settings/Zipping/Split - Doesn't keep them together if un-checked! *** STILL SPLITS THEM! ***
Program updater (if one has been downloaded)
Write full error handler
Recurse sub-directory? Not within zips - but within folders!
Check for 'changed' ROMs *** Need to re-think ***
UPLOADER - Need real error checking if rom already exists!
Seems to cause a problem with file names if there is a comma in them. <-- fixed in v1.2.2 (also did a few cosmetic bits - see if you can spot them ).
Problem with certain un-zipped ROMs. <-- fixed in v1.2.3
Crash out if any of the directories are deleted or moved. <-- fixed in v1.2.5
Add 'print' button to rom list (have/miss etc) <-- fixed on v1.2.9 <-- improved in 1.2.10
Error on time-out with dat update. Double check 'update' when it times out! <-- fixed in v1.2.16
Bug when file extension only 2 characters <-- fixed in v1.2.15
Updating Have/Miss lists with no update <-- fixed in v1.2.16
Feature Requests
================
"One of the things that keeps getting more difficult is that all the renamed ROMs are stored in one directory. It would be nice to split them, e.g. on a country basis (Japanese, US, other), or perhaps on a range basis"
Make main screen bigger/sizeable?
Make it Vista compatible .
Add Drag and Drop for lazy people
Add RAR support <-- added in 1.2.11 <-- removed in v1.2.12 (too slow at CRC'ing!)
Make the 'Temp' directory user selectable <-- done in v1.2.5
Exclude 'excludes' from Have/Miss lists <-- done in v1.2.8
Quick scan (scan 'renamed' directory without renaming) <-- added in v1.2.4 (also altered the renaming mask problem for Pantera )
Add PSP console <-- added in v1.2.1 (thanks to AdvanScener for the DAT)
Add Russian support <-- added in v1.2.6 <-- fixed in v1.2.7
Add Sweden support <-- added in v1.2.11
Add .DSI extension to NDS section <-- added in v1.2.17

I have used the Rom Renamer on Win XP and for the most part it works fine. When I installed it on Windows Vista Ultimate (x64) I'll upload a screenshot of the error later but it was Runtime Error '713' |

I haven't tried it on Vista yet. It probably won't work until I upgrade my version of Visual Studio.
Once I have a stable release, complete with the 'features' listed above, I'll revisit the 'upgrade to Vista' path.
Unless somebody wants to 'donate' a copy of VS2007 and Vista . _________________ http://releases.pocketheaven.com |

Actually I wouldn't mind it splitting up the folders into country this way. |

That one was a bit sneaky of me - as it was a request to Vinpire about his NintenRen.
As he never got around to doing it - I thought I'd add it to mine. _________________ http://releases.pocketheaven.com |

| Hi Raffles I tried changing a couple setting on the program and now I'm getting this message. "You must include the rom dumper, %1, if just using the name, %t (click "default' to set default string) This is how i've always had it set %n - %t (%c). The things I changed was for rom country I put only USA and under rom status I deselected all of them. It seems like it won't allow me to name files with that naming pattern. |

That was actually one of the cosmetic changes I mentioned above (well done for finding it ).
The reason for it was to stop a crash when roms of the same name existed more than once (eg. GBA #0115 or #0116). If it was set the way you had it - all 3 roms would end up with the same name - even though they are 3 different versions of the same rom.
I now it's a pain - but that's how it was in the early days.
Which console are you using that convention for? Maybe I could create an exception for it.

I've now turned the 'error' in to a 'warning'. This means that you can still use your mask as before - you'll just get a warning message everytime you change the settings.
I've also added the quick scan routine in for you all to test . _________________ http://releases.pocketheaven.com |

| Raffles the quick scan works with no problems. I was wondering if its possible for a small request. For the file names I noticed that the word "of" is capitalized is it possible to have it lowercased instead so that it can rename the files. |

I've also capitalised EVERY word - check 'The, And, If, With' etc.
Why do you want just 'of' changing? _________________ http://releases.pocketheaven.com |

ROM-Renamer's having trouble zipping up 0749 - Cinnamoroll - Ohanashi Shiyo! Kira Kira DE Kore Cafe (J).nds.
It leaves the ROM in the Temp folder and makes a zip, 0749 - Cinnamoroll - Ohanashi Shiyo! Kira Kira DE Kore Café (J).zip, with nothing in it that's 53 bytes big.
Also, why does it name the zip with Café, but the ROM with Cafe? |

Errr - pass!
What I mean is that it works perfectly for me (both zipped and un-zipped). I even renamed the file a few times - and everytime it named both the zip and the rom with the é (it uses the same variable for both the rom name and zip name when renamming is ticked).
It seems like Rom-renamer is having problems renaming the original rom with the é - is the rom set to read only? If so, try clearing all attributes set on it and try it again.
In the meantime I recheck the attribute function - as it was supposed to take care of this issue.
Unless it is another 'globalisation' problem (which it shouldn't be if you got a zip file with the é in).
EDIT : I've just tried it as read-only and it still works fine for me. I even made it a hidden file - and it still worked. What version of the .exe are you using? _________________ http://releases.pocketheaven.com |
