I've finished "cleaning up" the code to version 2.2. Would have loved to do this for version 2.3, but the released code for 2.3 is broken.
http://www.dwedit.org/dwedit_board/attachment.php?item=155
Differences:
C code now uses header files
Size optimizations and maintainability enhancements for ui.c
Added in long jumps between IWRAM and EWRAM code (necessary for non-multiboot mode builds)
No longer attempts to write to sections marked as "read only", writable data has been moved out of those regions _________________ Here come the fortune cookies! Here come the fortune cookies!

It tries (and succeeds quite good) to emulate a MD in SMS mode, the vdp behaves a bit different (no mode0-3, one Simpson game and another one doesn't work) and you can select the MD mode5... download my SMS test prog from my site to see a palette test.
Dwedit: I'll see what I can do to the source, I now have a SVN server at home so I shouldn't be missing so much now _________________ 0x5AB07A6E |

Couple of minor bugs I noticed:
paletteinit and MapSG_Pal are called without values for r10 when the emulator starts up. Either those functions need to assign the correct r10, or they're being called at the wrong times.
NO$GBA complains about it. _________________ Here come the fortune cookies! Here come the fortune cookies!

Uploaded new source of 2.4 with a few fixes, no more complaints from No$GBA and removed a few weak reference warnings from the compiler. _________________ 0x5AB07A6E |

Well, it's been a while since 2.4 was unleashed.
Until now i only gave it a go on VisualBoyAdvance without any further testing. But on real GBA flashcard (with F2A and EZFA(longcard)) i tried either 512kb and 256kb save size in a multiboot menu whith Pocketnes and Cologne.
As soon as i quit Smsadvance to play and save elsewhere savetates are wiped out. I could have done wrong but that never happens with previous versions. if somebody else can confirm or deny the fact that there's a save problem with this version ?
+ broken save-state system with "Excellent Dizzy Collection, The [SMS-GG]"
Edit : same result here, with a blank Flashcard. please correct this in the next version, as i stated, no worries with the previous 2.3 for me.

I think the savestates might be incompatible to older versions so try to clean the SRAM and I will try to get time to look at SMSAdvance soon. _________________ 0x5AB07A6E |

Hi FluBBa,
Sorry for repetiting myself, but i love SMSadvance and it still bugging me for a while and i'm a little frustrated nobody else seems to be affected (nor testing it).
I stay with the 2.3 since but please consider taking a look at the save problem in 2.4 version -(i started all over again with a blank cartridge but the saves are still wiped out like if other emu crushed it). |

Hmmm, couldn't really test it...
What version of the F2A menu are you using and is it enough to have PocketNES (what version) and SMSAdvance on it for it to fail? _________________ 0x5AB07A6E |

I gave my F2A 256 to my bro last week, it is out of reach for me now, (but the loader was 2.3, i think and pocketnes was the 3-18-08's build).
Here i just tried another compil with my EFA clone (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10447); The loader here is 1.02 and contains 3 roms : Cologne - SMSadvance - Kitaro (GBA rom).
That gives me the same result, saving in Cologne 0.7 wipeout the Savestates in SMSadvance 2.4 which for i allowed 512 KBits as Save Size.
I will try to borrow the F2A asap to let you know.
Edit : so yeah, F2A compilation boot on 2.3 loader |
