hi all,

currently im using an DSMasterPlus as GameGear Emu. Basically i just want to play the shining force games.

But the emulation is quite slow, and the scrolling ist pretty bad. Furthermore i want so play in fullscreen mode which is not possible in dsmasterplus.

i have an m3real set with gba expansion, so i tried SMSAdvance, but i just can't get it to run properly:

i used the .exe to add all the roms at once. afterwards i transferred the SMSAdvance.gba file + the resulting file from the .exe to my M3Real Micro SD Card. When i try to open SMSAdvance.gba i just get a black screen which says: DLDI Compatible. Thats all.

What am i doing wrong?

1. is it possible to add all files at once using the exe, or do i have to do that for every rom seperatly?

2. why doesnt smsadvance start up at all? when i start it i chose slot2 but it still doesnt work.

thanks for your help,
ninja

Maybe you just tried to boot "smsadvance.gba" which is the emu itself without appending the GG roms to it.

In order to get the thingy working, the SMSAdvance.exe is used to compile yours roms into a single yourfilename.gba that is sufficient to place on your linker.

yes that was my first mistake, but then i also tried to start sms.gba (this is how i called the compiled roms), and the same result: black screen.

somehow it seems m3real has some emu problems if the gba expansion is involved, because i can't get snezzyds to run too. snezzyds has to run in gba mode, and i just cant get it to work.

snemul, DsMasterplus, snesds, jenesis on the other hand work without any problems. there must be a way to get those other working too, because i have full gba rom compatibility with the gba expansion....any ideas?

I'm using a M3real and have no problems with the emu. I've used it with the M3real and now with the Sakura firmware.

hi,

i didnt try yet, i will try later at home...

@roman42: did you also get snezzyds to run on m3real? i would really appreciate if you could tell me step by step how this would work, since im searching for ages for a way to make Der Langrisser (SNES) run on my m3real using snezzyds. and i even asked on the developer forum, but nobody could give me a solution....i only get a black screen when starting roms...

bye,

Just use ApprenticeMinusDS; it's easily the best Master System/Game Gear emulator available for the DS. It comes with the jEnesisDS 0.7 download (it's not included with 0.7.4).

yes, i found that emulator just 2 hours ago Wink i read a lot of positive feedback for it, so i will try it today.

videos on youtube look very good...

now i only need to get snezzids to run...probably it may help usign browser ram extension to start it, instead of gba expansion?

ok, so i tried apprenticeminusds yesterday, and it doesnt have fullscreen support. but more important: shining force games have an ugly bug in horizontal scrolling. vertical scrolling is fine, but horizontal scrolling is not working properly. screen is jumping all around...

but it seems much better for games like gg shinobi...

since i was told smsadvance sports fullscreen i would really love to get that working on my m3real.

i tried it with the gba expansion pack, and with the rumbe ram back. both cases didnt work...

Yes, SMSAdvance sports fullscreen mode för MasterSystem games, not GameGear games, just like ApprenticeMinus.
Though SMSAdvance is a GBA application so it will only be fullscreen on a GBA.

oh ok i see, so there is no fullscreen gg emu out at all yet...thanks for the info, at least i can settle for the little screen now, cause i know there is no other way to play it on ds Wink but it really is very very small Wink

just like lameboy, where you can't play gb roms 1:1 cause the screen is too small, but you can't play it fullscreen too, because the graphics are not crisp enough...im still not sure which way i should prefer. currently im tending to fullscreen, because i dont want to need glasses in 1 year.

im just wondering if anything like scanlines on pc emus would be possible on ds? i always preferred scanlines over any kind of "softening" scale options which would result in very unclear images.
