But why is it that when you go back and play these 'retro' games - they are never quite as you remember them?
Just ask anyone who's Wii VC'd stuff. _________________ http://releases.pocketheaven.com |

Even disregarding the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia, there are real differences from the original game to the game on the official emulator (Animal Crossing or Virtual Console).
- Some games are ROM-hacked to make things blink more slowly due to Nintendo's settlements with parents of children with seizure disorders. Zelda II's death animation and F-Zero's wall collision animation are known to have been changed. Other ROM hacks are known.
- The composite dot crawl pattern is different, instead looking like FCE Ultra on my PC's TV output. This means the edges of dark blue objects such as underground bricks in SMB1 won't look as jagged as they did on the NES, and some dithering techniques (as seen in Blaster Master and the Castlevania games) look duller.
- At least in Animal Crossing, the audio isn't exact. Instead of being real buzzy, the electrocution sound in Balloon Fight became a dull hum like what I'd expect out of PocketNES. Was this changed when acNES became vcNES?
But at least VC is better than the famiclone with a pirate multi. _________________ -- Where is he?
