Before I forget: SNemulDS v6.0
I'm not sure if it needs to be added to the game list here: http://wiki.pocketheaven.com/SNEmulDS_Compatibility_List#v0.5_Beta_and_newer.
I mean...I don't see TSB3 on any of the lists there, but there's also the line to not add new game titles unless you have to change the default settings.
As it stands, TSB3 is completely playable with ALL default settings. I have played an entire game with external ram OUT, and half a game with it IN, 'cause I got tired of crushing the puny Redskins (dallas ftw) at that point and stopped to write this post.
However, there are some major layering issues in the default settings - the text on the main menu (and its sub-menus?) aren't visible unless you use 2/1/0/1 layering (Layer 0/1/2/Sprites). With this layering method, there is a minor glitch when picking teams - the shadow covers some of the 'text'. But its still readable, and heck, it might be how it was originally anyway.
The top and bottom edges are also slightly cut-off - nothing that hinders gameplay, but using 'medium' or 'fullscreen' scaling gives the best results.
2/1/0/1 layering makes the 'Game Set-up' screen (last screen before kick-off) somewhat garbled (but very readable), and makes play selection impossible, so go back to using AUtomatic Layering at this point.
The only other glitches besides the ones listed above are when entering 'cutscenes (first-down measurements, TD celebrations). The football is either invisible or does silly things (like wrap aroudn the screen a-la SMB2), and the 'flicker' between screen changes looks garbled. The music skips a beat on occasion, but is only noticeable if you're listening for it - which you will be now that I mentioned it. XD
I was thinking of adding this to the v0.5b and newer table at the link above. Not vertically aligned like it is here, of course, but into the table.
ROM Name: TECMO SUPER BOWL 3
SNEmulDS Version: v0.6
Layers and BG settings: Menus: 2/1/0/1 Gameplay: Auto Layering
Renderer: ? (not sure what to do here, I can't find that option anywhere.)
Vblank/Speedhacks: None
Priority by Tile: Default (again, not even sure how to change this)
BG3 block: Default (same thing here, unless its BG0(low)?)
Blank Tile: 000 (Default)
BGX(low): Default
Sprite Settings: 3211 (Default)
Playable: YES
Sound working: occasional skipping
Should I go ahead and edit the wiki, or is there a more comprehensive, up-to-date list somewhere (like...the forums? XD) |

| Feel free to edit the Wiki, as it's the most recent list we've got. Excellent job doing all that research, as that's exactly what the compatibility list is good for. I've seen several people on other websites who like our list due to the extra information we add for each game. Thanks for the contribution. |
